Making Yanada - A song sung by a non-orginal woman in original lunguage as guided by a Darug Elder

Below is the 8 minute documentary about how spirit spoke to a non-original young woman and an original woman elder about older women passing knowledge and guidance to younger women or girls.

Please watch this documentary, it has a strong spiritual message to it and is a beautiful example of how original and non-original can come together in a way that honours the land and the language that belongs to it.

Aunty Jacinta also shares her belief that original language should be shared with and taught to non-originals, especially those non-originals that are living on that languages country. An interesting and perhaps controversial subject, but one that needs discussion.

The refrain of this song is written and sung by Isabella Manfredi in Darug under the guidance of Darug Elder, Jacinta Tobin.

You can watch the full music video of Yanada as sung by Isabella with her band, The Preatures, here.
