Prisoners’ Indigenous language songs get rock star treatment

A group of Aboriginal women prisoners have recorded a bold rendition of a Midnight Oil hit song, Dead Heart, in their own language that a member of the legendary Australian rock band helped produce.

Jim Moginie mixed and mastered the recording of The Dead Heart, along with five original songs by the women at Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison (EGRP), sung mostly in the Ngaanyatjarra language of the Western Desert.

Thanks David was nice to just sit and listen to all of these

Ashala really liked these songs too, it would be nice if they put some of them on streaming services like spotify etc.
