A sacred meteorite rock which was stolen from First Nations people in 1866 has finally been returned to them by the Canadian Government on Truth and Reconciliation Day 2022.
It is good to see somethng similar to Mum:o:wee in action with the Original peoples of Canada, several tribes have worked together to accept the return of this sacred rock. It is also good to see the government and white community working towards releasing more sacred rocks back to their traditional owners.
There are no images of the sacred rock in this video, the tribes people believe that photography robs the rock of its power.
The First Nations People of Alberta are hoping to be able to move this rock from The Museum to a First Nations Prayer Centre, which will cost several million to build.
We wish them luck with this and hope that we are also able to raise funds to house our rocks for public display in a Wirritjin Keeping Place
