During the Ramindjeri’s annual 2022 Mum:mo:wee gathering we had a surprise visitor who brought forward some rocks that wished to be returned home.
Phillip (Pip) from the Victor Harbour tourist office received an anonymous package from some one who had visited Granite Island in the past and wished to have rocks he took from there returned back to their home.
This anonymous person planned on polishing these rocks, but never got around to it and he or she had had bad luck and bad health since taking these rocks.
Here is a note the anonymous person wrote and placed with the rocks package before returning them.
One of the elders present when the rocks were returned notice something quite unusual, when the rocks where unpacked from their box and placed on a Coolamon. There seemed to be more rocks coming out of that box than the box seemed capable of containing.
Here is a picture of Pip holding the rocks on the Coolamon.
The rocks were blessed with a smoking ceremony and Pip was told to bring them back the next day to see Steve Strong, one of the worlds leading authorities on sacred rocks.
The next day, Steven studied the rocks, and believed they come from Granite Island (which you can see in the background of he above pic) and he went with Pip to make sure they were placed correctly and to give them one final ceremony.
